General Operation #
V-Link detects the reverse geat signal, either via CAN-Bus or a dedicated reverse input on a GPIO pin. When reverse gear is engaged:
- The application switches to the rear camera view.
- The displayed video feed comes from the USB video grabber connected to the Raspberry Pi.
- Static guide lines are overlaid on the image to help estimate distance to obstacles.
Camera Power Control #
V-Link allows control of the power supply for the camer via a GPIO pin. There are two modes:
- Automatic Mode – Camera powers on when reverse gear is engaged
- Manual Mode – Camera can be activated anytime through the V-Link menu, without engaging reverse.
GPIO Connections #
When you are not using the CAN based reverse trigger, you can connect GPIO 20 to the vehicles reverse light circuit through a voltag divider or optocoupler to safely detect when the reverse gear is engaged.
Optionally you can connect GPIO 26 to drive a MOSFET or Relais module to switch power to the camer on and off based on reverse gear engagement.
